We keep a 21 foot sailboat, "Papaya", on the sheltered side of the island. Guests are welcome to enjoy this boat by arrangement with Mark Adams.
"Papaya" is a Freedom 21 sailboat. The Freedom 21 was designed by Garry Hoyt to be fast enough to race, comfortable enough to cruise and simple enough to singlehand. She shows some heritage from the New England "cat boats" but with a modern interpretation. A carbon fibre, stayless mast is positioned well forward, so that she is quite happy to sail with just the fully battened mainsail. If wind strength permits, she can set a staysail (jib) or a spinnaker. The spinnaker is set on an unique swivelling pole making it very easy to control. Under the right conditions (which often prevail on the Caribbean!) she regularly exceeds 6 knots.After an hour or two of exhilarating sailing you can drop anchor in a secluded cove and dive off for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean.
